Crossed the state of Utah today, this time driving P.J. Lenihan's V6 MGB while he navigated, played with his new thumbdrive-reading radio, and told stories to keep me alert. 114 MPH was easily achieved when challenged by wise guys like former racer, Lloyd Faust, from New Mexico, although we generally cruised at 65 to enjoy the scenery and more easily converse with the elk.
Arrived in Ely, NV a few hours ago, bedroom to the Bonneville Salt Flats...and little else. Tomorrow, the old Pony Express trail across the Nevada desert to Carson City and a parade entry into Reno at 5:00 pm.
